Dear Esteemed Parents and Guardians,

We are really excited to have you and our excellent scholars back from the fruitful summer holiday. We do hope you had a wonderful summer experience? We thank the Almighty God for His protection and journey mercies throughout the holiday and for the smooth commencement of this new session.

We will not fail to express our heartfelt gratitude to our esteemed parents who stood by us throughout the 2012/2013 Academic session especially during the 2013 Graduation and Speech/Prize-Giving Ceremony. Thank you.

To our new esteemed parents/scholars- The best is what we promise.

Welcome on Board!

WELCOME BACK FORMS

As usual, scholars will be given Welcome Back Forms. Parents are please enjoined to assist their children in filling the form as well as setting goals for the term. We also appeal to our esteemed parents to assist the school in monitoring the achievement of their set goals.

REMINDERS

PAYMENT OF FEES

We use this medium to appreciate our esteemed parents for their prompt payment of fees for last session. In view of this, we appeal to our parents to endeavour to ensure prompt payment of fees for this session. Fee drive for 1st term will be done after three (3) weeks of resumption from Monday 30th September, 2013. Parents should please ensure that all fees paid are duly registered and receipted.

Parents are also encouraged to avail their children the opportunities we offer through our Special Fees Services. Full annual payment of school fees attracts a discount of N10, 000. Late payment of fees attracts a fine of N 10,000 with effect from 30th September, 2013.

Parents with more than two children will be given N8, 500 discounts on the tuition fee for the third child on application.

PAYMENT FOR LETTERS OF INTRODUCTION

We wish to inform all our esteemed parents that from this academic session ( 2013/2014), a compulsory payment of N 1,000 (One Thousand Naira Only ) will be made by parents wishing to obtain Introduction letters from the school to aid collection of visas for their children who may wish to travel out of Nigeria for any purpose.

PERMISSION FOR TRAVELLING

We wish to appeal to our esteemed parents that in as much as we do not encourage frequent absence of our scholars from school due to travelling, the school authority should be officially notified and permission granted in case of absence or proposed absence of any scholar. This will enable us prepare adequately to furnish the scholar with what was lost during his/her absence and also make alternative arrangement for the scholar to be abreast of happenings while away.

MOVEMENT OF CHILDREN

We have observed that some parents allow their children to come on their own to school. This exposes them to vices and danger on the road. The school authority however, may not know when they left home or when they reach home from school. We therefore appeal to our esteemed parents to try and either use the school bus services or endeavour to drop off their children and pick them up accordingly to ensure safety and parental control. Our school gate will be closed after 8.00 O’clock in the morning and scholars coming late will not be allowed to come into the school after the gate is locked except on a written verifiable notification to the school

PROHIBITION OF ELECTRONIC GADGETS

We wish to use this medium to remind our parents that the use of mobile phones or any electronic gadgets, in school is strongly prohibited, and any scholar who is found with these items will be sanctioned accordingly and such gadgets will be confiscated and will only be returned at the end of the term/session subject to the discretion of the School Management. (Please see Scholars’ Discipline Handbook).

LWA BENCHMARK OF 70%

In a bid to keep and maintain our high standard, we had increased our benchmark from 65% to 70% last term (3rd term, 2012/2013), and we intend to continue with the new benchmark. We therefore appeal to our esteemed parents to encourage their children to study hard and submit all their assignments, projects etc. so as to attain the LWA benchmark which will be used as the basis for promotion at the end of the session.

 PARENTS- SCHOOL CONFERENCING

The task of nurturing a child is the responsibility of both the parents at home and in school. In view of this, we appeal to our parents to please make out time for parents conferencing any time they are called upon so that we discuss and build a solid future for our children. We do appreciate all our parents who have been honouring our invitation to conferencing. Parents are also enjoined to bring issues of concern to the knowledge of the schools so that they can be ironed out properly.

SCHOLARS’ CODE OF CONDUCT, RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In Lordswill Academy, Excellence is our watchword, and for excellence to be sustained, discipline must be inculcated into all our scholars. On this note, we have come up with LWA Scholars’ Code of Conduct, Rights and Responsibilities Handbook which is a guide to their character development. We therefore appeal to our esteemed parents to join hands with the school authority to produce not just academically sound scholars, but future leaders with sound character. We intend to strictly carry out all sanctions associated with listed vices. Every scholar of the school is expected to sign and collect copies of the handbook and photocopies will be in their folders. We appeal to our esteemed parents to go through the handbook with their children and guide them to ensure compliance.

INTRODUCTION OF COMPLETE CUTLERY

Lordswill Academy is a school that offers holistic child education. We have also introduced culinary education and we appeal to our parents to kindly provide their children with a complete set of cutlery (fork, knife and spoon) so that they will be adequately taught (in school) how to use them properly.

SCHOLARS’ UNIFORM AND APPEARANCE

Parents are kindly encouraged to keep their children’s uniforms clean and ironed at all times. The approved school shoe is flat black (which should be polished always) and white socks. White canvas is to be worn with the sportswear on sports days. Boys’ hair should be cut low and girls’ hair made according to the weekly hairstyles. Ornaments are strictly prohibited. No scholar is allowed to shape any part of the uniform.

Any scholar who is wrongly dressed, with unkempt hair, dirty or torn uniform will not be allowed into the school henceforth.

We want to use this medium to notify our esteemed parents that the school has in stock scholars’ socks for sale. All parents who pay for complete set of uniform will be given 4 pairs of socks each. We also wish to appeal to parents to ensure that their children do not use colored tight/leggings with their P.E skirt, as the school now has in stock uniformed shorts to be worn under the skirts. Parents are please encouraged to purchase the shorts from the school store for their children

COMMUNICATION BOOK

We also use this medium to remind our parents to please pay particular attention to the daily comments on their children’s communication book so that important information will not be lost. We will do well on our part to inform and update you on the progress and welfare of your children. Please kindly do well by giving us feedback to enable us serve you better.

Our esteemed parents are please enjoined to monitor their children’s communication book to ensure that the books are not misplaced by them as any lost communication book will be replaced by the parents.

COUNSELLING DEPARTMENT

We wish to inform our esteemed parents that the school offers excellent and professional counselling services to scholars, staff and interested parents. We therefore encourage our esteemed parents who may wish to enjoy the counselling services to please do so as we have a competent and a professional Guidance Counsellor who is trained to counsel appropriately.
